This striking one-of-a-kind vase was hand-made by me on the wheel. It is glazed with one of my most favourite crystalline glazes (developed by me and which grow real crystals of quartz and zinc within the glaze during the cooling in the kiln). To date, I have never shared my Lunar recipe with anyone ;)—it took so much effort to create and it’s so special.
To achieve Lunar’s cool, almost monochrome colours, the colourants (metal oxides) have to be just right and it has to be fired in reduction (a very specialised technique).
I love the dramatic moonscape appearance of the crystals and their contrasting halos. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
